With Star Wars: Rogue One barrelling down the lines towards us, it’s become something of a given that we’re going to get at least a brief glimpse of the new, younger Hans Solo. It made sense to fans; the re-shoots timed with the casting of the new actor. Now though, those dreams lie in tatters as Lucasfilm’s President has poured cold water all over those rumours.

Speaking with Extra, the studios President Kathleen Kennedy spoke about the rumours;

“I’m not sure if I’m allowed to do this, but I think I should… I can put to bed, Han Solo is not in the movie,”

The casting of Alden Ehrenreich had raised fans hopes that the new incarnation of Hans Solo would be making his way into the spin-off movies. At the very least you won’t have to wait long to see the new Hans Solo; his first solo outing is pencilled in for 2018. That movie is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller – with a May 25th 2018 release. Given how all the Star Wars movies have slipped, we’re fully expecting this one to do the same.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Alan Tudyk, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to open in UK and US cinemas on December 16, 2016.
